Stuart is a fully HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, who qualified from Newcastle University in 2007. He has experience of working with a variety of difficulties relating to adjustment and psychological distress including anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, worry, relationship difficulties and problems related to loss, such as bereavement and adjustment to physical health problems. Stuart believes that his supervised training and experience in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution focussed, systemic and positive psychology all help address his client’s difficulties in a more comprehensive way than might be offered by any single modality.
In 2014, Stuart also setup “One Giant Leap Personal Coaching” so that he could provide these evidence-based psychological techniques and approaches to help people improve their lives beyond problem resolution, and help them develop goals and build the life they want. As such Stuart has developed a four session life coaching programme, which he offers as part of his services at Gosforth Physiotherapy and Wellness, aimed at helping people realise their values, develop goals for the present/future, and develop an action plan to help build the life they dream of.
Stuart also delivers sports psychology services for the clinic, having the psychological knowledgebase required to help people excel at their chosen sports, as well as the experience of being a competitor in a variety of martial arts at different levels. He has helped people recover their confidence after defeat, manage the psychological effect of injury, and helped people develop winning mindsets. In the past, Stuart has worked with professional Thai boxers, tennis players, female rugby players, and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters… as well as those just wanting to engage with exercise for weight loss, health or simply for the pure fun of it!
In his spare time, Stuart likes to play guitar, engage in sports (including Karate, Judo and Brazilian Ju Jitsu) and loves international travel.
