We are Newcastle's Biomechanics Experts and specialise in understanding why your body is not functioning to its optimum.

We simply don't believe in being second best or delivering second rate treatment and products. We always deliver a FIRST CLASS service and our patients ALWAYS come FIRST!

Do you want to be pain free when you move?

Good news

We are our Experts in Biomechanics at Gosforth Physio and Wellness. Our team are highly skilled in understanding, diagnosing, treatment and prescribing world class bespoke orthotics.

Assessment

A biomechanical assessment is an investigation into the mechanics of your lower limb function. First, we look at any history of previous injuries. Then, we assess your lower limbs. We look at your feet, your pelvis, legs and knees and the relationship between them; they are all closely connected and pain in one area can be due to a weakness or structural problem in another.

With you lying on a couch, the Physiotherapist examines the joint range of motions of your hips, knees and feet. Your muscle strengths and weaknesses are also assessed, and the physio will also look for any signs of leg length discrepancy.

With you standing up and relaxed, the alignment of your feet (and relationship with your lower legs) will also be checked – and we sometimes carry out a gait analysis which looks at the interaction between your foot and the ground during each stage of the ‘gait cycle’ (the time between one foot leaving the ground and touching it again when you walk or run).

With the cause(s) of your problems identified, we develop a bespoke treatment plan to improve your symptoms.

This may involve exercises to stretch or strengthen your muscles, the use of bespoke foot orthotics, and more general footwear advice.

Better by 5

Over 90% of our patients get ‘Better by 5’ sessions.

If you need any of our physiotherapy, sports injury, sports massage or acupuncture services, you should see and feel a real difference by the end of your fifth session.

If, on the other hand, there is no improvement in your clinical condition or in the way you feel – we STOP after the fifth session. At that point, we reassess the reasons why there has been no apparent improvement and, if necessary, we can organise scans and letters to GP's and Consultants. You can be sure that we will never continue treating you unless there is a positive benefit – and only when you (and we) agree on your treatment plan.
