Things will be a bit different as when you ring our contact number 0191 2849111 for an appointment. When you have booked an appointment our Physiotherapists will call you for a short triage call to get a history of your problem and to discuss how best to treat your problem.

If you are booked in for a face to face consultation we will email you or post some documentation including a screening questionnaire and some guidance before coming to clinic.

Questions and answers for patients regarding Face to Face assessments & treatments while staying Covid19 safe and secure.

Upon your booking you will be contacted by our physiotherapists for a short triage call to ensure you are safe for a face to face session.

Please see below regarding Gosforth Physio & Wellness procedures to keep you and the clinician safe and secure during this current Covid19 pandemic:

Q.What should I wear for my appointment?

A. Wear the usual appropriate clothing to allow us to fully assess you e.g. shorts for lower limb and vest top for upper limb issues. However, consider leaving phones, watches, jewellery, handbags etc at home or put these objects in a small plastic bag.

Q, What should I bring to my appointment?

A.Bring as few items as possible into the clinic for your appointment (see point above). You will be encouraged not to touch and make contact with as few surfaces as possible to minimise the risk of Covid19 transmission.

Q, Should I wear a face mask?

A. Please wear a mask for your session. If you do not have one we can provided with a face mask for your appointment.

Q. What will happen I arrive at the clinic?

A.Please enter the front door and use the sanitising station. You will also find hand sanitisers in the lift and in the reception areas and all of the treatment rooms. Please follow the arrows to the large reception areas. If you ring the bell and wait the physiotherapist will be along shortly and taken into the treatment room. Your temperature will be checked using a contact-less digital thermometer. If you have a temperature of 37.9deg C or above you will be asked to go home immediately and be advised to self quarantine.

At the end of your session you will again follow the arrows for the one way system out of the clinic. You will be asked to use the provided hand sanitiser on entry and exit from the clinic.

Q. What measures have been taken to protect me before I arrive?

A. The 40 minute appointment session includes time at the start for physiotherapist to wash their hands and replace PPE. And at the end of the session for cleaning the clinic room surfaces after you exit while you sanitise your hands. An example with would be the treatment couch, tables, physio equipment, door handles, payment machines etc. 

Only one physiotherapist will be working each shift to limit crossover.

Q. What precautions will be taken by my Physiotherapist?

A. Your Physiotherapist will wear the recommended PPE by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Public Health England. They will wear an apron and mask. Our hand washing policy ensures that gloves are not critical, however If you wish for them to wear gloves for your consultation, please let them know in the session and they will be happy to do so.

Q. Can I bring someone with me to my assessment?

A.Please do not attend with family members or friends, exposing them to our clinic environment. However if you require physical assistance to attend your appointment from a carer and they are wearing a mask this is not an issue.

Q. How can I pay for my treatment?

A. We are accepting payment by card.

Q. How will I book my review appointment if required?

A. A review appointment will be booked by Physiotherapist as usual and you will be provided with a record of that appointment date and time.

If you need any of our physiotherapy, sports injury, sports massage or acupuncture services, you should see and feel a real difference by the end of your fifth session.

If, on the other hand, there is no improvement in your clinical condition or in the way you feel – we STOP after the fifth session. At that point, we reassess the reasons why there has been no apparent improvement and, if necessary, we can organise scans and letters to GP's and Consultants. You can be sure that we will never continue treating you unless there is a positive benefit – and only when you (and we) agree on your treatment plan.
